Celebrating the life of
Philip Ritch Harris
October 12, 1911 - August 11, 2013
Savannah- Philip R. Harris, 101, died peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mae M. Harris. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Drs. Charles and Phyllis Price; sister, Idelle Roberson; sister-in-law, Emily Harris; brother-in-law, Charles Riggs; his wife's brother, Oscar Moore; his wife's sisters, Mildred Elder and Emma Lee Stovall; and his beloved nieces and nephews.
An accountant for some 40 years, Phil lived to enjoy an equal number of retirement years. Boating, wood-working, tracking the bond market, and trailer-traveling throughout the United States and Canada formed his chief pleasures in life; but above all he loved his family and their farmstead near Screven, GA, where he was born and grew up.
To all who knew him, Phil Harris was a friend who exemplified how to live and share the gift of life.
Family and friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 14, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, 429 Abercorn Street, where Phil was a member for 76 years. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Philip Ritch Harris. Words cannot express the pain we feel when we lose our dear loved ones. Our prayer is that you may find comfort through God’s Word, the Bible. Isaiah 25:8 tells us: 'He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces.” May you be strengthened and comforted during this time of loss.

Uncle Phil - I will miss you - and our visits - and phone calls - thank you for spending time with me - and discussing many things about your life - especially growing up - your travels across the USA - and what it means to be a centenarian.
